SEE EVENT DETAILS
It's that time of year again and this time, we're raising money for the National Immigration Law Center! More than 800,000 individuals depend upon DACA and the average age of a DACA recipient is 26, the very same age I'm turning this year. So, help me ring in my birthday while we support our peers and give them a chance to study, work, and stay in the United States. The $20 suggested donation includes:-Access to the privately reserved fire pit and lounge-Bottomless s'mores-Photobooth-Donation to the National Immigration Law Center-More to come! About DACA:On Tuesday, September 5th, 2017, Jeff Sessions announced, during a press conference, that the White House plans to "rescind" DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). For those who may not know, DACA is an immigration program which was signed in 2012 under former President Barack Obama's administration. The program functions as a temporary respite for the young and undocumented immigrants of America by delaying deportation for them, helping Dreamers by giving them a chance to study and work in the United States.About NILC:Established in 1979, the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is one of the leading organizations in the U.S. exclusively dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of immigrants with low income. At NILC, we believe that all people who live in the U.S. should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Over the years, we’ve been at the forefront of many of the country’s greatest challenges when it comes to immigration issues, and we play a major leadership role in addressing the real-life impact of policies that affect the ability of low-income immigrants to prosper and thrive.
