Beyond My Family's Reach is a powerful original stage play that shines a light on the unseen struggles with mental health and substance abuse within the Black community. Written by Kamika Hebbert and Rosiland Coats, the play follows the intertwined lives of two young men--Lamar and Greg Jr.--as they navigate trauma, stigma, and the desperate search for help in systems that too often fail them.
Through gripping storytelling, live music, and raw emotion, Beyond My Family's Reach takes audiences on a journey of love, loss, and redemption--revealing the harsh realities of addiction, incarceration, and the families left behind to pick up the pieces.
Presented by Brothers Against Drug Deaths (BADD), a Bay Area-based nonprofit founded by Theris L. Coats, Sr., this production raises awareness. It inspires action toward mental health reform, recovery support, and compassion for those affected by addiction.
Join us for an unforgettable night of truth-telling, community healing, and hope beyond the family's reach.
