Beyond Marriage Equality: What's Next in Funding LGBTQ Issues?

SEE EVENT DETAILS
In 2015, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states. This decision indicated that the country was moving towards more progressive and inclusive outcomes. Indeed, trends show that societal norms are shifting towards equality, but there remains a long journey for LGBTQ people and communities. Persistent hurdles exist around housing, workplace discrimination and trans justice. Meanwhile, violence and poverty still disproportionately affect LGBTQ youth. What role are funders playing to address the gaps that still exist?

Join Foundation Center West and a panel of funders as we address how philanthropy is working to address persisting challenges for LGBTQ people and communities.

Agenda:
2:00-3:30 pm: Panel discussion
3:30-4:00 pm: Meet and greet with panelists

Panelists:
Roger Doughty, President, Horizons Foundation (@horizonsfdn)
Matt Foreman, Senior Program Director, Gay and Lesbian Rights, Evelyn & Walter Haas Jr. Fund (@HaasJrFund)
J. Alexander Sloan, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Communications, Tides (@TidesCommunity)
Christine C. Tien, M.P.P., J.D., Program Manager, South Sacramento, The California Endowment (@CalEndow)
