Bay Area Women Activists: From the Ground to the Sky

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Our Women Speakers Series highlights dynamic women who have made important contributions to women's human rights, social justice, and gender equality. Launched in March 2017 with Gloria Steinem in conversation with Lateefah Simon, our second installment features Bay Area women activists.
The evening will feature women in the Mission District documenting their dire living conditions, how citizens can get involved in the budget process, a city supervisor, a human rights lawyer, and women aerialists who illuminate the struggles of women through daring dance performances. The panel will be moderated by GreenPeace USA Board President, Karen Topakian, arrested at the January inauguration for hanging the RESIST sign on the crane over the White House.
We hope you will take away new ideas, be re-energized about your own activism, and feel inspired by the many ways women are working to improve our communities around the world.
Our panelists include:

- Karen Topakian, Board President GreenPeace USA

- Jo Kreiter, Executive Director of Flyaway Productions

- Melanie Nathan, Human Rights Lawyer

- Shari Davis, Participatory Budgeting

- Jane Kim, SF Supervisor

- Photo Voice Exhibit: Women in the Mission document their dire living conditions.

This is a fundraising event for The Women's Building's Advocacy Program.
