THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Come to the next Battle of the Ages hosted by Bay Area Creative at CIIS this September! Our incredible feature is none other than the amazing Janae Johnson. There will be not one, but two amazing workshops you have the chance to attend --one led by Janae on performance---and one earlier in the afternoon on the intersections of art and activism.

Slam Teams of all ages will battle it out in a fierce incredible night of poetry! Come see the poets out their hearts on the stage with poems on crucial social justice issues like intersectional feminism and racism and rape culture and queerness and disability rights and so many more. It's a night you don't want to miss.

Admission at the door will be sliding scale 3-10 for competing poets and 5-10 in general. The door money will be going towards prize money and hopefully gas money for folks as well!

ORDER OF EVENTS
1. Workshops
2. Battle of the Ages round 1 and 2
3. Performance by our Featured Poet
4. Battle of the Ages rounds 3 and 4

This event's workshop will be on exploring the role of artists as activists and our responsibilities to our communities in the work we create. The first workshop will be led by Janae Johnson! (Don't miss this-- invite all your friends, your cousins, parents, unborn relatives , everyone you know). This workshop will be at 4:30 downstairs in the gallery. This workshop will address the following questions along others!:

-How can art explore trauma in a way that's ethical and where does slam cross that boundary?
- Where do the lines between art and activism blur?
- Are there lines or is that a construct of privilege?
