Bastille Day Celebration at Left Bank Brasserie Menlo Park
At Left Bank Brasserie in Menlo Park, from Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15, the spirit of Bastille Day will be most apparent with additions to the restaurant's a la carte lunch, dinner and cocktail menus, plus festive blue, blanc and rouge décor. On Saturday, July 14, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Menlo Park location with a special Bastille Day blow-out. Festivities will include, from noon to 3:00 p.m., a balloon artist, face painters, a caricature artist, festive activities such as corn hole and ladder golf, a kids chef toque art contest and kids cooking demos with the restaurant’s chef. From 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. there will be alfresco live music by the La Rive Gauche Band, at 6:00 p.m. there will be a Champagne sabering lesson and anniversary toast, and from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. more alfresco live music by Gaucho Jazz. Throughout the day there will be surprise appearances by Marie Antoinette and friends. Sunday brunch will include $5.00 Mimosas and Bloody Marys. The special menu items for all three days will be Bouillabaisse for $32.00, a traditional Provençal seafood dish with red snapper, mussels, shrimp, saffron tomato broth, grilled baguette and Rouillle sauce; Coq au Vin for $25.00 with marinated red wine braised chicken, lardons, button mushrooms, pearl onions and egg noodles; and a Berry Millefeuille for $8.00 with tuile cookies layered with pastry cream, blueberries and raspberries. The celebration cocktails, each priced at $13.00, will be a Marie Antoinette with Sipsmith gin, lemon, crème de mure and egg white; a Sangre Royal with Basil Hayden's bourbon, lemon, blackberries and mint; and a King Louis with Courvoisier VSOP cognac, mint, lemon, black tea and Champagne. All regular menu items will also be served throughout the celebration and prices exclude tax and gratuity. Vive la France! Vive la révolution!
