35min self defense class taught by an MMA instructor


35min of yoga taught by Libby


20min information session with guest speaker talking about important things to know when working in the service industry.

If you’re in the Service Industry and ANYTHING like me- then you don’t stretch enough and you have a total disregard for your own general well-being. Maybe that’s a harsh assessment, but it’s not entirely untrue. I never sign up for yoga classes or even stretch regularly at home. I also haven’t had a refresher course on self-defense or bouncing in AGES. On one of these full moons some crazy drunk is bound to cause a problem at my bar, and I want to be more prepared for that.


Hence we have THE BARTENDER DEFENDER CLASS! It’s half Self Defense taught by various local MMA instructors, and half Yoga focused on stretching the muscles that we consistently pull (usually doing something stupid like untapping that damn keg last Friday... sonofabitch..!).


As an added level of defending our own, we’ll bring in a guest speaker each week to talk about some aspect of our jobs that we should discuss more often (i.e. the legality of using force while bouncing patrons, how to better spot fake I.D.s, etc, etc).


But wait- there’s more! Each event will have beverage sponsors, so you can have FREE DRINKS while you’re stretching out, trading stories with other bartenders, and putting Vanessa in an arm bar or a choke hold or whatever (just keep it clean, people).


And when the class is over, the hosting bar will be open for business- a seamless transition back into our normal cycles of mild alcoholism. Mazel Tov? I don’t know, whatever...



Space is LIMITED, so sign yourself up (and a whole bunch of your friends) ASAP!
