Balompíe Cafe is a cozy little spot filled with characters from the neighborhood who stop bite to eat, watch soccer, and play a few rancheras in the jukebox. The papusas are crispy and delicious. Papusas come with cheese but you can add meat and/or larocho (the tip of the asparagus-like plant bud is used). Top the papusas with curtido (a vinegar, pickled cabbage) and salsa. Satisfaction. A plate of two papusas with rice and beans is around $5.
