AXIS Dance Company presents: Adelante

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Sept. 16th, 8pm, Sept. 17th, 8pm, Sept. 18th, 2pm

Join Berkeley's renowned AXIS Dance Company for Adelante: a triple-bill of new works by international disabled and non-disabled choreographers for Nadia Adame's first home season as Artistic Director. Named after the Spanish word for both 'forward' and 'go ahead,' the three works all find common ground in the triumph of the human spirit.

Adame opens the evening with her new piece Breathe Again, which explores the most suffocating parts of our collective and individual journeys: After a moment, a smile, a word, we pivot from those difficult moments and find a way to move forward.

Ben Levine's Tread follows with a joyful exploration of momentum, friction, and gravity that uses wheeled children's toys to level the playing field between disabled and non-disabled dancers.

Closing the evening is celebrated Spanish choreographer Asun Noales. Noales premiers a new work in her signature dance theater style that digs into the desires, pleasures, and delights of human relationships.

Wheelchair-accessible seating, ASL Interpretation, Audio Description and Touch Tour options available.

About AXIS: Founded in 1987, AXIS is one of the nation's most acclaimed ensembles of disabled and non-disabled performers. AXIS creates world-class productions that challenge perceptions and redefine dance and disability.
