The Human Rights Foundation invites you to a special evening at The Vault with Saudi author and activist Manal al-Sharif. In 2018, Saudi Arabia lifted its widely-lambasted ban against women driving, seven years after computer scientist Manal al-Sharif uploaded a video to YouTube of herself driving. For this video, she was castigated, threatened, and ultimately imprisoned. Manal is the founder of the Women2Hack Academy, which strives to enrich tech abilities in Saudi Arabia, focusing on information security. She has published Daring to Drive, given a TED Talk, spoken at the Oslo Freedom Forum, and continues to bring attention to women who have been wrongfully imprisoned for driving before the ban was lifted.
Next week, Manal begins a drive across the United States—from San Francisco to Washington—to raise awareness for Saudi Arabia’s female political prisoners. Join us to help kick off her campaign and learn more about her goals for this initiative.
