About the Films:
-Surface Down -
Post:Ballet and The Living Earth Show co-present "Surface Down" a modern exploration of love, loss, and letting go inspired by the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. In Surface Down, excerpted from their upcoming larger production "Lyra," Orpheus struggles to hold onto Eurydice as the Fates beckon her to the underworld. This short was made in collaboration with YAK films featuring composer Samuel Adams, choreographer Vanessa Thiessen, and costume designer Rashad Pridgen.
- Lavender Country -
In 2018, Post:Ballet premiered "Lavender Country" inspired by the 1973 album of the same name, the world's first gay country album. As we should expect from Dekker's consistently uncanny ability to create unexpected yet powerful collaborations, this production mixes contemporary dance with fiercely candid storytelling and heartwarming country music by Patrick Haggarty, the original Lavender Country singer and songwriter.
