With just one month to go before DWeb Camp, it's time to come together and test out your ideas and projects! Join us Wednesday, June 26 from 10 AM to 9 PM for an All-Day DWeb Hackathon. You don't have to be coming to camp to get hands-on experience working with decentralized technologies! Nothing beats meeting in person to dream up ambitious ideas, share knowledge and build our collective visions.
At DWeb Camp, we'll be building a local mesh network--so come tinker with us, try out your application on the mesh, and bring your own Camp project or ideas to bat around with others.
Rough Schedule:
10 AM-Noon Hack in the Great Room
Noon-1PM Go get lunch on Clement Street
1-6 PM Hack some more
6-7 PM Pizza, beer and networking (the food is on us!)
7-9 PM Lightning Talks about DWeb Camp projects, including:
Toronto Mesh & People's Open Network
Brewster Kahle on Data Swapping!
Virtual Reality in the Wild
More about Mesh Networks at DWeb Camp:
In the Internet Archive's Great Room, we've set up a wireless mesh network that will be installed at the DWeb Camp and extended by the community during Build Days (July 15-18). The network draws from community network principles of open and "free" infrastructures. Borrowing from open documentation and technologies by many communities, we have prototyped a distributed local network so campers can learn, build, extend, and tinker. You can find more information on the dweb-camp-2019/meshnet repo on GitHub and in the Issues board.
Getting Ready for the Decentralized Web All-Day Hackathon:
Familiarize with our Project submission process and check out the Issues board
Check out some of the Projects people are cooking up!
Hop onto our Projects Matrix chat to say hi and ask any questions ahead of the event
If you would like to prototype running an application at DWeb Camp, bring your Raspberry Pi or any other device that can connect over ethernet cable (preferably) or wirelessly (less predictable)
There is no strict schedule for the day. Bring a friend. Bring your toys. Pop by anytime between 10 am and 9 pm!
