"Union Square is ready for a taste of Mexico City's street food, and I'm honored to bring Al Pastor Papi to downtown. This is about sharing our culture, feeding both locals and visitors, and proving that community, culture, and our signature tacos can help spark San Francisco's transformation," said Miguel Escobedo, Chef and Founder of Al Pastor Papi.
"Al Pastor Papi is bringing new life to Union Square and reflects the talent, creativity, and resilience that define San Francisco. This grand opening is more than a celebration of great food; it's a testament to how small businesses are driving our city's cultural and economic recovery," said Simon Bertrang, Executive Director of SF New Deal.
"I can't wait for San Francisco, and our countless international visitors, to experience Al Pastor Papi. Union Square is getting even more delicious thanks to Chef Miguel Escobedo. I applaud SF New Deal's innovative Vacant to Vibrant program which is helping bring Al Pastor Papi to life and filling an empty storefront in one of San Francisco's most iconic districts," said District 3 Supervisor, Danny Sauter.
