The Center for the Arts & Religion at the Graduate Theological Union presents "After/Life: Danced Reflections" on April 24th and 25th at 7pm. Featuring the work of six Bay Area choreographers, "After/Life" is an embodied response to the artwork currently on display as part of CARe's Spring exhibition, AFTER/LIFE. The large-scale paintings by Ed Aulerich-Sugai and textile burial garments by Mark Mitchell reflect rituals for dealing with death and remembrance, particularly in the wake of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Through a series of solo dances in the gallery, each choreographer brings their kinetic response to the space and the art via their site-specific creation.
Performers: Melissa Hudson Bell, Cherie Hill, Erik Lee, David McCauley, Megan Nicely, and Carla De Sola
