Advice & Cocktails: Talking to Buyers with Patrick Wyman, Whole Foods

SEE EVENT DETAILS
We know food startups have a lot of questions when it comes to talking with buyers. While there's no magic formula, Patrick Wyman, regional coordinator for Whole Foods NorCal + Reno, has plenty of insight on what works when approaching buyers from his stores. He'll start the evening with a general overview of his top do's and don'ts before moving on to questions from participants.
This moderated discussion will move from topics of interest to companies at all stages — from pre-revenue to $1M+ in annual sales. And, of course, Patrick will weigh in on how he thinks the Amazon deal might affect relationships between food startups and Whole Foods buyers in the near- and long-term.
Enjoy a drink on us and come prepared with your most pressing questions about the shifting grocery landscape. We'll also sample some of Patrick's favorite local brands as he talks us through some examples of companies who have found success on Whole Foods shelves.
About PatrickPatrick Wyman has 25 years of experience in the natural foods industry, and 15 with Whole Foods Market. He started with the company in a store support role for the grocery department, moved through grocery leadership, and now oversees the Northern California region’s local purchasing program and local vendor partnerships. In this role, Patrick helps guide vendors through the logistics of bringing a product to market, including topics such as  packaging, distribution, financing, and compliance with company and governmental standards. He’s passionate about the environment; professionally he participates in Whole Foods Market’s Green Mission leadership team, and spends plenty of time off work hiking and skiing.
