In the words of Dr. King, “We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity.” As we pause to remember Dr. King, let’s spend the time honoring his legacy and advance the dream.
At the MLK Day Celebration, youth will be able to:
receive information about resources and opportunities for employment
participate in small discussion groups and talk with mentors about their career journey/path
participate in a mock interview
have their resume reviewed
Let’s heed Dr. King's call “to remind America of the fierce urgency of now.” Dr. King spoke of the need to “make real the promises of democracy and to make justice a reality”. He cautioned, “We cannot walk alone.” Dr. King talked about the stone of hope and providing an opportunity to young people no matter what they look like or where they might be from. Don’t just talk about the dream of equity and justice — work to advance it. Now is the time to make justice a reality for youth. Let us work together to advance equity; let’s do our part to advance the dream.
