You Are the Source: Documentary Theater in Performance
"Lorraine" High School | May 20 at 5:30 p.m.
Master Artist/Director: Becca Wolff

We all have stories. Social media works because people like or need to document their lives, and documentary theater springs from this same impulse--the need for the revelation of real life and the truth that personal stories provide. This spring, the High School Actors Ensemble performers will explore and theatricalize their real-life experiences in bold new ways using documentary theater techniques, culminating in a unique and moving shared performance.

Ancients Made Contemporary: The Power of Representation for Youth
"Tennessee" Middle School | May 21 at 5:30 p.m.

Over the course of our rehearsal process, students will be navigating contemporary narratives inspired by ancient texts, through the lens of their personal identities and experiences. They will work collaboratively on scene works from plays like Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuka, inspired by The Odyssey, and Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl, both of which navigate what it means to be a young person in a tumultuous world, finding resilience in the face of numerous challenges. Students will also study monologues that they connect with, and practice what it means to bring their own experiences and perspectives into the work. This curation of scenes and monologues is a celebration of the young actors represented on our stage.
