Living in a box is hard. Abbey knows. She's tried. But now, Abbey is sick and tired of her box! It's kept her locked up for thirty years, and it's ready to explode. Like a volcano. Like dynamite. Like a shaken-up bottle of soda or pop, whatever you call it. She needs to be free. And she wants to be loved, for her unboxed self: the actor, the clown, the comedian, the girl who is "too much", with big dreams and the horsepower of a million, jacked-up stags.

A charming debut solo show from a 'brilliant' and 'real' performer. Uniquely blending elements of theater, storytelling, comedy, and clown, Abbey's Box explores vulnerability, shame, and buried truths. Written & Performed by Abbey Glover. Directed by Joyful Raven. Developed with David Ford & Joyful Raven.

Abbey Glover is a San Francisco-based writer, storyteller, and performer. Her work is anchored in a desire to say things that she thinks and feels but has been scared to say out loud for fear of shame, embarrassment, or rejection. Abbey's Box is her first solo show, which she is previewing in San Francisco before premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland this August.

Joyful Raven is an accomplished actor, director, and story midwife. Her most recent solo show Breed or Bust won the Producers Encore Award and was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Her previous show Tales of a Sexual Tomboy won Best of the Fringe at the San Francisco International Fringe Festival and had an Off-Broadway run. She has directed and mentored hundreds of storytellers, co-founded award-winning theater company Rococo Risqué, and co-authored 4 plays for Prize of Hope-winning company Human Nature. Joyful studied theater at Sarah Lawrence College in NY and holds an MFA in dramatic art from UC Davis. She holds regular storytelling and solo theater classes at the Berkeley Rep School of Theater and her own studio in Oakland, CA.
