A Night of Philosophy, Ethics, and Social Justice

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Curran Theater, part of the Ambassador Theatre Group, and Think Inc. is proud to present the world-renowned Australian Ethicist Peter Singer, live on stage.

ll profits from the event will be donated to effective animal charities. Singer will give insight into his unique journey as "the most influential living moral philosopher" and "the most dangerous man in the world",and will discuss topics like what we are doing to animals, the current state of the animal rights movement, climate change, and effective altruism. All attendees will get a copy of Peter's yet-to-be-released book Animal Liberation Now as well as his acclaimed text The Life You Can Save, How to do your part to end world poverty.
As one of the world's most prominent thinkers in ethics, Singer has made significant contributions to debates on many ethical issues, including abortion and life and voluntary assisted dying. During the live show, Singer will share insights on effective altruism, which seeks to maximize the positive impact that individuals can make in the world, and in which he has also played a pioneering role.

The live events will follow the release of Singer's upcoming book, Animal Liberation Now, which revisits and updates his groundbreaking work, first published in 1975 and subsequently recognized as one of TIME's "All-TIME 100 Best Non-Fiction Books". Singer's original work inspired a global movement to transform our attitudes towards animals and eliminate the cruelty we inflict on them. In Animal Liberation Now, Singer exposes the chilling realities of today's "factory farms" and experiments on animals, while also offering alternatives to address the profound environmental, social, and ethical issues related to the vast number of animals we produce for food. (The alternatives even include his favorite recipes!) An essential read for supporters and skeptics alike, the book is a persuasive appeal to conscience, fairness, decency, and justice.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to do live events again in the US, and especially to present the first full update of Animal Liberation since 1990," said Peter Singer. "It's been a lot of work, and I hope it will have the impact that is needed for us to make further progress in reducing animal suffering and public health risks, as well as combating climate change."

The audience will have the opportunity to engage with Singer during a Q&A session, where he will answer questions on a wide range of topics, including his views on current political issues and his advice on how individuals can make a difference in the world.
