Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove. Inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, this bawdy musical tells the story of Pseudolus, a slave, as he helps his master, Hero, win the heart of their neighbor Philia. A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM is infused with comic mayhem and debuted the hit song “Comedy Tonight.” After opening on Broadway in 1962, FORUM was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, winning five Tonys including Best Musical and Best Book. This production will be co-directed by Milissa Carey and Michael Ryken. Musical direction will be provided by Katie Coleman.
