The charming 1983 movie was written by American raconteur Jean Parker Shepherd (also known as "Shep") who set the short story upon which it's based on his childhood growing up in 1930s Indiana. And it's got that Norman Rockwell Americana feel, though, somehow, more inclusive than 1930s America was. The perennial holiday movie was adapted into a musical, with numbers like "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" and "Up on Santa's Lap" that should resound with those familiar with the story of little Ralphie and his quest for a Red Rider bb gun.
This is the "bow" on the theater company's year-long celebration of its 40th year, and a delightful present to the community it is. It runs 7:30pm Friday (Dec. 5 and 12) and Saturday (Nov. 15-Dec. 13), 2pm Sunday (Nov. 16-30), through Dec. 13. On Nov. 22 there is a fundraising gala ($100)
