Art events organizer Stanford Live and the Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies at San Jose State University (SJSU) have announced plans to present the 2019 John Steinbeck Award to folk-rock band Mumford and Sons during a special award ceremony, conversation, and acoustic performance next month.

The intimate performance by Mumford and Sons, in honor of Steinbeck, will mark the centennial of the author’s enrollment at Stanford and the 80th anniversary of The Grapes of Wrath. The center celebrates writers, thinkers, artists, and activists who embody the empathetic spirit and values of John Steinbeck.

at Bing Concert Hall, 327 Lasuen Street, Stanford

Mumford and Sons are also scheduled to play in San Francisco on September 19th at Chase Center, one of the first concerts at the new arena.
