Battle of Last Two World Series Champs – Giants vs. Cardinals
The Giants came back from a two game hole to win three games on the road in defeating the Reds. The Cardinals fought back from a 6-0 deficit in Game 5 to stun the Nationals. Now, the two teams take the field on Sunday with a World Series berth on the line.
San Francisco has home field advantage in the series between the last two World Series champions. For the Giants, the starters for Games 1-3 are set: Madison Bumgarner will start Game 1 on Sunday, Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound for Game 2 and Matt Cain will be the starter in Game 3. What is not known is who will start Game 4 – will it be Barry Zito, who was the Game 4 starter in the Division Series or Tim Lincecum, who was lights on in relief against Cincinnati? The Cardinals will start Lance Lynn, Chris Carpenter, Kyle Lohse and Adam Wainwright in Games 1-4.
