Come celebrate poems written for the people with contributors to the new collection, 99 Poems for the 99 Percent.
Poetry is not an inaccessible and irrelevant art form, and the newest collection edited by Dean Rader proves that today's poetry continues the rich tradition of taking on important political and social events. American poetry is about democracy, and the poems in this collection reach you on issues you care about in a voice you can recognize. These are poems full of anger, love, protest, humor, contemplation, hope, frustration, and beauty.
The collection started as a project that posted 99 original poems over 99 days by major American poets, emerging writers, students, and ordinary Americans. The project encompasses a plurality of voices, approaches, and visions, and is now available in book form.
The event will feature poets Ellen Bass, Sally Ashton, Dean Rader, J.P. Dancing Bear, C.J. Sage, Rachelle Escamilla, and Dennis Richardson.
