The Coastal Trail Walk is Suicide Prevention’s family-friendly event that seeks to raise money while offering the community a safe space to gather, receive support, and to find comfort within a shared experience. The walk begins at Window on the Bay Park and continues on past the Monterey Bay Aquarium (a gentle 3 miles roundtrip). Registration begins at 9am and the walk begins at 10. A raffle prize giveaway and the conclusion of the silent auction directly follow the walk.
The Coastal Trail Walk directly benefits Suicide Prevention Service. Each year, as a program, we provide suicide prevention education to over 12,000 Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito residents, many of them youth and young adults, and answer over 4,000 calls on our 24-hr suicide crisis line. In the last five years, suicide has claimed the lives of almost 400 Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito residents. Almost everybody, at one point in their life, is touched by the issue of suicide.
