WELL KMJ HAS DONE IT! HIT THE FIVE YEAR MARK!!
The 5th Annual KMJ SC WARRIOR WALK hosted by Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness a non-profit organization located in San Francisco at a new location. The mission: to broaden awareness about the disease, advocate for patients/families access to quality healthcare and empower through education.
The goals: to build relationships with key stakeholders (patients, legislators, decisionmakers, community based organizations) to bring about change, increase support and participation with our events, develop employement pathways for our Intership Program and advocate for the needs of the patients to strengthen communications.

This year the day before the walk SCAA will also host a "Wine & Sign" at Trademark & Copyright Bar & Lounge located at 1123 Folsom in San Francisco from 2pm-7pm. If you are interested contact Antwan Capla (650) 201-8457. SCAA will provide the supplies, "just come on down have a glass of wine and make a sign".

Walk Details: 5k walk will start at Bayview Opera House 4702 3rd St.- going north towards Evans St. - DON'T BE LATE!
9:15am - Registration (preferrably online, however you can register at the walk)
10:00am - 10:15 - Speakers
10:16am - 10:30 - Warm-up
10:30am - Walk will begin
1pm - Closing
A donation of $20 or more from anyone will receive a KMJ Warrior T-shirt, Ribbon, Awareness band, Raffle tix, and some other exciting things.
The San Francisco Fire Derpartment Local Union 798 will conduct CPR demos and provide the vintage fire truck for the kids to explore. The truck will also be available to ride when the walk begins. We will have a few vintage cars from the east bay in the parade as well provided by Al Turner. There will be valuable health information available from our major sponsor Global Blood Therapeutics. Be A Match will be available to talk about Bone Marrow Transplant and Gatorade will have juice on hand. You don't want to miss the food, raffle or Sickle Cell spinning wheel. Come have good time and share. You don't want to miss it.
A portion of the proceeds go to the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research to help support the first stand-alone Sickle Cell Care & Research Network (SCCRN). This facility is the first one of its kind and it is our hope to have a similar center in the bay area in the very near future.Your support is vital to making this a reality.
