On Sept. 11, 2022, BART celebrates fifty years since its 1972 opening. It's an auspicious milestone for an organization that provides so much more than transportation to a region it's now served for five decades.
As we near our golden anniversary, BART is celebrating its storied history and contributions to the region through storytelling, in-person and virtual events, a short story contest, and more.
Join us for a free public celebration. The event will include:
* Food trucks
* Music, including Taiko drummers
* A kid's zone with games
* The opening of a time capsule and then putting a new time capsule together (part of main stage event)
* The BARTmobile
* BART-Man, your friendly, neighborhood luchador
* The front of a train cab serving as a photo booth
* 10 feet of train tracks to show people the components and how they work
* Film archive booth where you can watch historical BART films
* Transit themed booths and partners - learn more about BART projects, upcoming HO scale model trains, the Western Railroad Museum and more!
