50 Cent Tabernacle: BAN7
The 50 Cent Tabernacle is a series of open, mixed-level dance classes with some of the Bay Area's foremost masters of the craft. For 50 cents, participants receive an all-day pass, which is good for up to five different 60-minute classes. As part of YBCA Bay Area Now 7, come take classes with teachers from the BAN7 Performance Festival, including RAWdance, Christy Funsch, Fog Beast, and more!
Part interactive celebration, part community movement space, these workshops are organized by the YBCA Young Artists at Work in collaboration with the YBCA Department of Performing Arts, and are open to everyone, with a focus on teens in the community. Come out and join the movement…
Simply an Animal
Fog Beast (Andrew Ward and Melecio Estrella)
In this hour of practice, we will open the physical moment with anatomical and image-based explorations. From the ground to the air, alone and together...we will move. We will sound. We will touch one another. We will build and demolish a world in just under an hour.
Dynamic Duos
RAWdance
Partnering (when two or more people move together with intention) is an integral part of our choreography. We’ve taught this class to all levels—seriously, from those with no experience at all to circus acrobats! Come join the fun!
Pop Up and Perform
Christy Funsch
Launch into movement through improvisation. Amplify, shed, and redefine your own movement style by observing and moving with others. Christy Funsch brings scores for solo, duet, and group performance that start with Laban Movement Analysis and climax in a Soul Train party. All levels welcome!
