In its 4th year, the Pleasanton Run for Education continues to be the popular race for area runners. What started as a small fundraising event is now one of Pleasanton’s favorite running celebrations. Its popularity and size is a tribute to the enthusiasm and spirit of the Pleasanton’s running community and local schools support with more than 75 percent of participants hailing from the students, families and teachers of the Pleasanton School District. Last year's event had over 2,500 runners, and raised over $97,000 for Pleasanton schools and students.
The run welcomes participants of all ages and ability levels, from runners participating in their first road race to those experience marathoners looking for a great training run. The end result is a fun-filled race experience that celebrates running and fitness while raising money and awareness for the Pleasanton Partnership in Education (PPIE). The event concludes with an Awards Ceremony and Family Fitness Expo that features activities for kids and vendors from the surrounding community.
About the Pleasanton Partnership in Education:
PPIE is a non-profit, 501(c)3 foundation that supports all schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District. Since 1987, PPIE has raised over $5 million dollars for our schools through corporate partner donations, special events, and community-based fundraising efforts. Funds raised by PPIE support and re-establish critical district-wide programs for students threatened in recent years by state budget cuts, and to fund projects enhancing educational excellence for all students.
In 2015, PPIE raised $563,000 for our district’s schools, which was used to hire four Instructional Coaches for the entire district, and facilitate technology and student support initiatives at each middle- and high-school.
