2nd Annual Beer Mitzvah: a Craft Beer Fest

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Temple Israel is celebrating its 100th anniversary at its 2nd Annual Beer Mitzvah on Sunday, April 19, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm, in Alameda. Come raise a pint to celebrate this milestone.

Most beer is kosher by default based on the ingredients. Yes, it's true. The one catch is that not all breweries can afford to have a rabbi regularly supervise the production for an official designation, but the majority of beers can be considered "kosher-style." Let's celebrate craft beer coming of age at the Beer Mitzvah.

Breweries scheduled to participate are:

Altamont
Alameda Island Brewing
Ale Industries
Epidemic
Faction
Federation
FoxFarms
Henhouse
Hidden Star Orchards Cider
Independent
Oakland United (our returning champion)
OldKan
Shmaltz (maker of Jewbelation and Hop Momma)

Your eyes are not deceiving you; this is an incredible line-up. Admission price is $36 and enables attendees to unlimited pours to taste incredible beer that is kosher-style or kashrut, as well as two very popular, locally crafted hard ciders. Attendees also get to vote for their favorite beer at the event in a contest to determine "The Chosen One." Don't miss out!

The popular band, The Vinyl Four, will perform again. Food, activities and a bake sale will also be on hand. Event is free for children and people under 21 years of age.

Donations support Temple Israel's school as it celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2020.

You do not need to be Jewish to attend. Everyone is welcomed. Purchasing entry tickets in advance is strongly encouraged so your party and taste testing can start sooner. Purchase tickets at https://beermitzvah2.eventbrite.com.

$36. 21+ to receive wristband to taste the beer. Children can attend for free as beer festivals are family-friendly.
