Music Medleys Reveal Lineup for 2019 Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

Similar to previous years, organizers for the free festival known as Hardly Strictly Bluegrass have started to share music medleys containing clips of artists who will appear on the lineup. We’ll continue to update the list of performers as more artists are confirmed.

Medley #3: Whoa… Robert Plant is a rock god, Kurt Vile, known for his work with The War on Drugs, is joined by the Violators, country legend, multi-Grammy award winner Emmylou Harris, country soul from Yola, refreshing Mexican influenced music of Flo de Tolache, funky goodness from Pimps of Joytime, rock jams from Oakland band Whiskerman, the self-proclaimed “black metal sparkle folk” of The Wild Reeds, the beautifully harmonic Mandolin Orange, and the thoughful, poingnant country sounds of Mary Gauthier.

Medley #3 represents an amazing list of talent… take a listen.

Medley #2: Bluegrass band Hot Buttered Rum, country acts Nikki Lane and Tanya Tucker, troubadour John Craigie, Nigerian guitarist Mdou Moctar, Swedish songwriter Daniel Norgren, Americana musician Buddy Miller, bluegrass singer-songwriter Sierra Hull, blues band Black Joe Lewis & the Honey Bears, and fiddler and banjo player Dirk Powell with bluegrass musician Stuart Duncan.

Listen to Artist Medley #2

The first medley contains snippets from 10 musicians, and as the first collection indicates, the genre diversity is expansive.

Medley #1: Country star Margo Price, folk act Iron & Wine, Southern rock legend Steve Earle, singer-songwriter Jackie Greene, UK folk-rockers the Waterboys, rock band the Meat Puppets, California folk duo the Milk Carton Kids, Tex-Mex indie rock group Calexico, eclectic soul singer Bettye LaVette, and Texas country-folk talent Hayes Carll.
