Why You Should Go See The Scientists at Burger Boogaloo

The Scientists

“In my heart, there’s a place call swampland: 9 parts water, 1 part sand.”

The Scientists have been called the most influential punk band in Australia. Born in Perth, they’ve got a unique sound that surpasses the “punk” genre. These boys feature waving surf-touched guitars, funny / intriguing lyrics, and a backbone that gives you something real to grab hold of. Their sound is a ménage of The Cars, Elvis Costello and Iggy Pop. And they’ll be performing Sunday, July 7th at Burger Boogaloo; one of Oakland’s biggest music festivals and its only punk rock festival.

The Scientists don’t come around these parts too often. Last year was their first official US Tour, and who knows, this year might be their last. Frontman Kim Salmon has been involved in several other projects over the years, but The Scientists in this incarnation will surely put on a beautiful performance. This is a chance to see one of the true originals; formed in 1987 and still killin’ it hard.
