For the past two years, SPACE2950 has showcased a mix of homegrown, local producers with larger, more established artists, consistently packing venues throughout San Francisco. The producer/DJ-led party, named after the apartment it grew out of, focuses on hip-hop, electronic music, beat making, and freeform live sets. And the monthly party is back in June, with LA producer FALCONS and local talent, Mikos Da Gawd.
“It’s hard for artists to make a name here,” says founder Zach Moses. “LA and New York get a lot of the attention, but there’s also so much talent locally. There’s a storied history of music in the Bay and so many up-and-coming artists, but it all tends to get overlooked. Seeing venues closing and apartments taking over, that’s tough to see. Getting to know so many local artists, there’s real drive here. Art always finds a way. I’m just trying to provide a platform for people. I love helping, showcasing music, and throwing parties.”
