Noise Pop’s 20th Street Block Party, a Free Neighborhood Celebration in the Mission

Independent music promoter Noise Pop revealed the full music lineup for the sixth annual 20th Street Block Party, headlined by electro-synth-pop Empress Of and Latin American singer-songwriter, Lorely Rodriguez.

The neighborhood celebration brings together an eclectic mix of music and entertainment on multiple stages, plus food, drink, and art. The one-day, end-of-summer event takes place right outside the front doors of the Noise Pop headquarters along 19th and 20th Streets, between Harrison and Bryant Streets in the Mission District. The event is free to attend and benefits its 19th Street neighbors and the nonprofit organization Mission Language and Vocational School (MLVS).

Beyond the headliners, other musical talents performing this year include ska-punk pioneer Jeff Rosenstock, psychedelic-soul group The Marías, four-piece San Francisco-based garage rock band The She’s, Meric Long of The Dodo’s new solo project FAN, San Francisco-based pop-punk rockers Total Betty’s, and local teenager rock outfit Small Crush. One final music performer will be announced in the coming weeks…

August 1 Update: Organizers revealed the complete lineup of local vendors and artists, which includes on-site activities like a silent disco a pop-up record shop from Amoeba, lip-sync battle with KQED Radio, a curated cannabis marketplace, a dedicated dog park with pet-friendly caricatures, classic cars from the SF LowRider Council, double dutch competitions, surprise pop-up performances from the cast of Hedwig and The Angry Inch, and tarot card readings. This is all in addition to the return of Art Row, an interactive collection of creative works from the local SF arts community. In terms of musical acts, a third stage presented by MLVS will include local DJ collectives Sazon Libre vs B Side Brujas, in addition to previously announced music performers.

Beyond the live tunes, 20th Street Block Party attendees can enjoy a wide array of culinary options and flavors from some best flavors from the Mission District and around the Bay Area. The full food lineup will be announced in the near future, as well as more details on this year’s family-friendly activities, nonprofit vendors, and participating partners.

While the 20th Street Block Party is free and open to the public event for guests of all ages, donations are suggested and highly encouraged. Headliner Experience VIP tickets can be purchased for $99, which include access to a private lounge and restrooms, complimentary food and drinks, and private front-of-stage viewing area.
