2018 Alumni Awards Banquet

The GWHS Alumni Association is pleased to present the 2018 Alumni Awards Banquet, featuring 2 Hall of Merit inductions and a special Annabelle Marsh Piercy Lifetime Service Award. It's going to be a great evening you won't want to miss! All inductees/awardees are scheduled to attend (save Esther, as noted below). Master of Ceremonies Alumni President John Rothmann. Doors open at 6pm, dinner service 7pm.

The Hall of Merit inductees are:
- Richard Hyman S‘58, Ph.D., a microbiology and genome researcher and professor who has been with the Stanford Genome Technology Center for over 3 decades and made groundbreaking discoveries of the malaria genome sequence, recipient of many awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, and
- Darlene Spira Solomon ’76 Ph.D., a life sciences researcher with many patents who has been with Hewlett-Packard since 1984 and is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Agilent Technologies (a 1999 H-P spin-off), inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame, and elected into the National Academy of Engineering.

The Annabelle recipients are:
- Bernie LaPedis and Esther Schwartz LaPedis S’57, the power couple who chaired four successful reunions for the Classes of Fall '56, Spring '57 and Fall '57, and fundraised several times within their class to present several sizeable gifts directly to GWHS; the last one was $10,000 in 2011. (Esther passed away in 2016 and is being honored posthumously.)
