2018 - 2019 San Francisco Youth Commission Swearing-In Ceremony

Dear Members of the City Family and Supporters of Youth Voice in City Government:
We would like to extend a cordial invitation to youth commissioners’ swearing-in ceremony by Board President Malia Cohen on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 5:00 pm in Hearing Room 416.  Following the swearing-in ceremony, commissioners will hold their first meeting of the 2017-18 term in hearing room 416 at 6pm.
For questions, please contact me at [email protected] or our office at 415-554-6254. Thank you!Mission:The Youth Commission is a body of 17 youth from San Francisco between the ages of 12 and 23. Created by the voters under a 1995 amendment to the City Charter, the commission is responsible for advising the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor on policies and laws related to young people. The Youth Commission is also charged with providing comment and recommendation on all proposed laws that would primarily affect youth before the Board takes final action. 
History: The Youth Commission has been recommending budget and policy priorities and building with community partners on issues such as Free Muni for Youth, Transitional Aged Youth Housing, Investing in Alternatives to Incarceration, Vote 16 and more. 
The Youth Commission meets regularly as a full body on the first and third Monday of every month.
