Winners Announced for ill.Gates x Stephan Jacobs Remix Contest
Last month, West Coast bass pioneers ill.Gates and Stephan Jacobs teamed up to host an epic remix contest, inviting amateur music producers from around the globe to submit their spin on one of the duo’s latest original track, “Flying.”
In the first week of the contest, over 1,000 entrants from 68 countries submitted entries, forcing the contest timeline to be extended. By the end of the submission period, more than 3,000 entries were shared. The top three tracks were selected by ill.Gates alongside some special guest judges.
Winners received a combined $16,000 worth of prizes, including professional audio plugins, hardware controllers, and music production tools and courses. As well as exclusive opportunities to collaborate with ill.Gates, who was born in Toronto but now resides in San Francisco.

The original “Flying” track blends future bass and glitch hop into a catchy, bass-heavy summer anthem with an intricate melody.
