Outside Lands Invites Metallica, The Who, Gorillaz for 10th Anniversary in Golden Gate Park

After weeks of anxious waiting, the lineup has been revealed for the 10th annual Outside Lands music festival. Headlining the event are heavy rockers Metallica, legendary classic rock band The Who, British virtual band Gorillaz, New Zealand songstress Lorde, and hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest.

Other performers scheduled to perform at the 10th annual event, which takes places August 11-13 in Golden Gate Park, include alternative act Alt-J, hard rock group Queens of the Stone Age, electronic heavyweight Above & Beyond, indie folk band Fleet Foxes, Australian duo Empire of the Sun, and non-traditional bluegrass band the Avett Brothers. Some of the noteworthy undercard acts on this year’s lineup are female vocalist Solange, electronic group Little Dragon, Bay Area based female rapper K.Flay, indie pop group Electric Guest, and synthpop trio Goldroom.

Beyond the music, Outside Lands is an annual Bay Area celebration of food, wine, beer, art, and comedy. The Barbary is the name of the area where comedy and improv acts will perform. Enjoy some of the best wines from 40 Northern California wineries at Wine Lands, as well as products from 30 premier West Coast breweries at Beer Lands. There will also be a festival marketplace with artisan craft vendors and local food purveyors serving a taste of the Bay Area. In addition, there will be a mini golf course called the Back Wine, an Eco Lands sustainability area, and the Gastromagic culinary stage. The entire food and drink lineup will be announced soon.

The festival has contributed nearly $17 million to the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department and generates over $70 million annually for San Francisco’s economy. It employs more than 4,850 people in and around the area in the process. Additionally, last year’s fesitval diverted 91% of its waste thanks to usage of reusable, recyclable, and compostable materials.
