Support the Roxie Theater, Keep Ticket Prices Low

Show your support for the Mission district’s Roxie Theater this holiday season to help them keep ticket prices low. Built in 1909, this cinema has tremendous history, but rising rents and higher costs mean that the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is forced to raise their ticket prices by $3 in the new year.

Fortunately, an ongoing fundraising campaign to accept tax-deductible donations can help keep ticket prices down. For every $40,000 in donations received, they can avoid raising ticket prices for customers by $1. A donation allows them to not only keep ticket prices low, but to remain a fixture in San Francisco for years to come.

The loyalty and support of donors have made it possible for the Roxie to bring the best in cinema to SF, nurture the careers of tomorrow’s great talents, and introduce thousands of moviegoers to influential cinematic voices from around the globe. Check out a video below from a few years ago of filmmaker John Waters describing the mind-blowing experiences possible at the Roxie Theater.

This month, the Roxie has a series of great premiums available for donating:
– $50 gets an original, unused movie poster from the Roxie Releasing archive (Kurt & Courtney, Red Rock West, and Man Bites Dog)
– $100 donations are rewarded with an awesome Roxie tote bag and a poster
– $250 in philanthropy is appreciated by giving donors a trailer from the Roxie archives, a Roxie tote bag, and a poster
– $500 in generosity is thanked with an original Roxie Releasing 35mm print (subject to availability – limited supplies: Kurt & Courtney, Rivers & Tides, Vincent), a Roxie tote bag, and a poster

Optional premiums for charitable donations are available for pickup at the Roxie office, but they may impact the tax deductible ability of the donation. Many employers throughout the Bay Area are providing matching donations, which doubles the funding to the Roxie. Click here for more information and a list of companies in the Bay Area that provide a match. To donate in-kind goods or services, please contact [email protected].

In addition to donations, the Roxie offers a variety of memberships that are partially tax-deductible, support the theater, and provide great perks like free admission and free popcorn.
