Bayview Gets Boozy Boost with Brewery and Distillery

After all the buzz around Tenderloin’s gastronomic revival, it looks like Bayview is up next for underground hip status, and not thanks to the growing Instagram popularity of Flora Grubb Gardens alone.

The neighborhood already nailed the holy trinity of meat, bread and wine – Xan deVoss and Barbara Gratta, the folks behind Gratta Wines, Fox and Lion Bread and Butchertown Gourmet took care of that a couple of years ago. It recently generated additional interest with the opening of a permanent spot for Radio Africa and Kitchen earlier this year – the wild rice jambalaya is already a crowd favorite.

Now, it seems like it’s the alcohol’s turn.

Two major players recently announces their arrival to Bayview, almost simultaneously. First, the Laughing Monk, a brewery which always called Bayview home, announced the opening of a new large space with a tasting room, coming soon in November.

Soon after, Seven Stills, the innovative local whiskey brand, choose Bayview as the home for its new distillery, also set to open in November. Prepare to stand in line surrounded by what’s considered the best micro-climate in town.
