San Francisco’s Best Parties This Weekend

The holidays craze is setting in. Take a break from fending off shoppers and ride the chillwave with Washed Out or join the progressive house parties with Amon Tobin and Distrikt.

Friday, December 5th: Amon Tobin at Mighty
Hailing from Brazil’s capital, this progressive house DJ has composed scores for films like The Italian Job, and 21. Most known for his breakout album ISAM, an Acronym for “Invented Sound Applied to Music,” and crazy visuals with touring productions, Amon Tobin brings a scaled-down presence to Mighty this weekend. It’s one of only three DJ sets this year while he’s working on new material.


Friday, December 5th: Washed Out at 1015
This Southern boy started his career through Myspace and soon became a crucial part of the chillwave movement. Washed Out has performed around the globe and most recently visited the Bay Area at this year’s Treasure Island Music Festival. His melodic sound gained major buzz with his song “Feel It All Around,” featured in the opening sequence of the TV series Portlandia.


Friday, December 5th: DJ Sam Isaac at Harlot
Over the last 15 years, DJ Sam Isaac has rocked venues and clubs throughout the Bay Area and beyond, opening for acts like Common, the Roots and Wyclef. His style pulls from different genres, ranging from house to 80s pop and funk. He has been a regular in San Francisco’s club scene for years.


Saturday, December 6th: Dyro x Bassjackers at The Warfield
Dyro is known as one of Holland’s future megastars. On the rise, he released his first EP on Hardwell’s label, Revealed Recordings entitled “Daftastic,” which quickly became popular among big name DJs like Afrojack, David Guetta, Tiësto, Sander van Doorn, Dada Life, Laidback Luke and, of course, Hardwell himself. Look out for the new track collab with Dyro & Bassjackers, “X.”


Saturday, December 6th: Distrikt at Public Works
Distrikt Camp is bringing the Playa vibes to Public Works this weekend with there Holidaze Dance Party to satisfy that Burning Man itch. Teaming up with Make-A-Wish Foundation, Distrikt’s resident DJs Kramer, Sabo, John Charnis and more will be spinning progressive tech-house beats all nigh.
