Portugal. The Man Announces San Francisco Benefit Show at Regency Ballroom

StubHub announced today its first self-produced, self-ticketed concert in San Francisco, Portugal. The Man headlining a special benefit show at the Regency Ballroom.

Billed as the Next Stage Concert Series, the August 12 event is one of five concerts organized throughout the United States by the San Francisco-based, third-party ticketing service.

We think about how different our lives would have been growing up had we had the opportunity to explore our creative sides.[/bra_blockquote]The concert is a benefit for The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to three Oakland schools including Westlake Middle School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary and Kipp Bridge Charter.

“Where we grew up there was no music education. We think about how different our lives would have been growing up had we had the opportunity to explore our creative sides,”said the Portland-based band, by way of Wasilla, Alaska, in a statement about the show. “As a band, Portugal. The Man has always done whatever we can to encourage kids to explore music and the arts. We are excited to partner with StubHub to help give kids the tools they need to explore their creativity.”

Tickets are $25 and will be on sale July 30th at StubHub. Previous stops this year included headliners Lykee Li and Grouplove with two additional shows planned for Chicago and New York, headliners TBA.
