Berlin & Beyond Film Festival Returning To Castro Theatre Jan. 15-19

Back for it’s 18th year, The Berlin & Beyond Film Festival will once again descend upon San Francisco and the Castro Theatre. Beginning January 15th, it will run through the 19th before it moves over to the Goethe Institut for two nights on January 20th and 21st.

For it’s fourth year under festival director Sophoan Sorn, things kick off with Germany’s official entry into the 2014 Academy Awards, Two Lives. This year will also feature the festival’s first 3D film since 2010 with Measuring the World, which chronicles the adventures of 19th-century scientist Alexander von Humboldt and mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss. But these are just two of 30 films screening, not to mention an opening night party at Tank18, one of the city’s best wine bars. For more information and tickets, head over to the festival’s official website.
