On Saturday, September 13, the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club Foundation (501c-3) welcomes the Bay Area to North Beach for the 2014 Festa Coloniale Italiana.
The Festa, which runs from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., celebrates the rich Italian and Italian-American heritage that has existed in San Francisco for generations and in addition, this year, it will also celebrate the Year of Italian Language in America.
Along Stockton St., between Union and Filbert, you'll find mouth-watering food, a variety of beverages, handcrafted Italian merchandise, and best of all, bella musica Italiana. Inside the Club's facilities, the ballroom will be transformed into an Italian piazza (complete with a fountain!). The ballroom will contain additional vendors and also host this year's wine tasting - featuring some of the best Italian wines available.
The Foundation is very pleased to announce that this year's musical headliner is Italian tenor Moreno Fruzzetti. Moreno, who was born in Pisa and now lives in New Jersey, is a great showman and exceptional vocalist who pays homage to the storied Italian songs of the past to the present. In addition, scheduled entertainment includes the multi-Grammy nominated Italian-American band Bella Ciao; Il Sole; The Ricco Dancers, featuring Toni Bava, who will be delighting the audience with authentic tarantellas, mazurkas, Italian waltzes and more and a jaw-dropping exhibition of pizza tossing by pizzaioli from Tony Gemignani's Tony's Pizza of North Beach.
The Festa Coloniale Italiana remains San Francisco's only Italian festival and is FREE, fun, family friendly and open to the public. For up-to-the-minute Festa information, please visit:
