Another edition of Blick’s Mix continues Friday with headliner Just Be, formerly known as Bushwacka! of Layo & Bushwacka! fame.

Since UK-based Matthew B began his music career, he showed an early inclination to rhythm, eventually becoming a classically trained percussionist at the London School Symphony Orchestra. In the early 90s, he got his footing in the rave scene during the emergence of acid house. This gave him ample opportunities to feel out the vibes in the underground and become acquainted with a number of old school rave heroes, including Mr. C. It was through Mr. C that Matthew met his partner Layo, with whom he formed Layo & Bushwacka! Playing out breaks and tech-house around London, they gained popularity as a DJ duo, landing residencies locally—including at London’s world-renowned End club—and abroad.

Now over 20 years as a seasoned DJ and producer, Just Be continues his solo career following a busy year with releases on Get Physical, Plus 8, and Crosstown Rebels in 2012. Through Just Be, Matthew plans to recreate his image as a tech-house DJ and producer to include a repertoire of deeper and trippier leftfield-oriented tracks and dance-floor journeys.
