Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau Day

It will be a celebration of France in the Bay Area on Thursday as restaurants and bars across the region celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day.

The classic French holiday celebrates the end of fermentation of Beaujolais and the beginning of the season. Here are a few spots to celebrate:

Arlequin Wine Merchant – The Hayes Valley shop will host its annual “Beaujolais Bash” from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to taste over 25 wines from the villages of Beaujolais. Cost is $25. Arlequin Wine Merchant is located at 384 Hayes Street in San Francisco.

Redwood Room at CLIFT Hotel – The Redwood Room will be celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau Day with a release party featuring $5 glasses from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and live music from DJ Frankie Boissy. The party goes until midnight. The CLIFT Hotel is located at 495 Geary Street in San Francisco.

Grand Cafe – The downtown brasserie is offering a special for guests on Thursday; show the restaurant your mustache or costume and get a complimentary glass of Beaujolais Nouveau. And for those not in costume or sans ‘stache, the restaurant will also be offering a free glass with the purchase of a featured entree on Thursday’s special menu. Grand Cafe is located at 501 Geary Street in San Francisco.

Left Bank Brasseries – The three Left Bank Brasserie locations in the Bay Area (Larkspur, San Jose, Menlo Park) will be celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau from Thursday through Saturday by featuring Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Nouveau 2012 by the glass, carafe or bottle along with a $40 three-course special menu at each of the locations. Larkspur location – 507 Magnolia Avenue, San Jose location – 377 Santana Row, Suite 1100, Menlo Park location – 635 Santa Cruz Avenue.
