Former Giant Jeff Kent to Appear on Survivor

Former San Francisco Giant star 2nd baseman Jeff Kent is taking a new competitive turn in his life as he will be appearing on the upcoming season of Survivor.

The former National League MVP will be one of 18 castaways competing on Survivor: Philippines, which premiers on CBS on Wednesday, September 19. But Kent is not the only “celebrity” as ‘80s television star Lisa Whelchel, who played Blair on “The Facts of Life” is also competing on the show.

Kent, who had his best years with the Giants, will go down as one of the better offensive 2nd baseman over the last few decades. In fact, he took home the 2000 National League Most Valuable Player Award. He also famously butted heads with Barry Bonds on numerous occasions, including the two needing to be separated in the dugout. He may be one of the most misunderstood athletes in recent Bay Area history as well, seen as moody, almost a loner. For all the great stats he put up, let’s just say, he might not have been the greatest teammate of all time.

Not quite sure how his attitude will help him in the competition but the 44-year-old, who lives in Texas, is still in pretty good shape, which will help in the physical challenges.  Check out the cast preview below:
