SF Chefs Gets Underway with Cooking Demos

While SF Chefs, the biggest food event in San Francisco, is still almost two months away, organizers have planned out plenty of cool preview dinners and demos to wet the appetites of foodies around the Bay Area.

The demos are new this year and will provide people with just a taste of what’s to come for SF Chefs (July 30-August 5).

The first event takes place on Saturday, June 2 as ice cream aficionados Robyn Sue Goldman (Smitten Ice Cream) and Jake Godby and Sean Vahey (Humphry Slocombe) will be holding an “Ice Cream Social.”

San Francisco is well-known for it’s amazing ice cream shops and love of ice cream so guests will get the behind-the-scene stories behind the different flavors and techniques used at both shops. Plus, there will be plenty of samples to go around as well! The event takes place at the Union Square Williams-Sonoma Demo Kitchen from 12-2. Tickets can be purchased here and are $20, $15 if you use your Visa Signature card.

The demos continue the following Saturday (June 9) as chefs Hoss Zaré (Zaré at Fly Trap) and Chris Thompson (A16) will take guests on an “International Meatball” journey, exhibiting how different cultures view the wonderful world of the meatball.

On Saturday, June 23, Michelle Hernandez (Le Dix-Sept Patisserie) and Jessica Entzel (Morimoto Napa) will explore the wonderful French dessert, the macaron.

And to wrap things up, on Saturday, June 30, Jason Berthold (RN74) and Omri Aflalo (Bourbon Steak) will get guests ready for summer with a look at some simple recipes for that summer picnic (wine pairings included).

All of the events will be held from 12-2 pm at the Union Square Williams-Sonoma Demo Kitchen. Tickets will be $15 (Visa Signature) and $20 for each event. Certainly a fun and unique way to kick off this year’s SF Chefs event.  More information next week about some of the preview dinners planned for the next two months as well.
