San Francisco Fine Art Fair 2011

Over 70 galleries and 400 well-respected artists are expected attend the international exhibition set to take place at the festival pavilion at the Fort Mason Center. The five-day event will include an opening preview and reception set to benefit the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, a chat with artist guest of honor William T. Wiley and a ceremony to honor arts patron Cissie Swig.

Also featured as part of the Asian Contemporary Art Forum will be a live performance by Lenora Lee Dance based on narratives about immigration through Angel Island during the heyday of the Chinese Exclusion Act.

Special panels hosted by some of the artists will explore such topics as the creative potential of mobile photography and the impact of art in the community.

Seven one-of-a-kind  PUBLIC bikes that have been deconstructed and reconstituted into something new by seven Bay Area artists will be auctioned off in a benefit for the SF Bike Coalition’s fund which improves bicycle safety on local city streets.

The fair will run from May 16 to May 20 at the Fort Mason Center. Visit the official website for more information on exhibitions, tickets and hours.
