Young the Giant to Headline Oysterfest in Golden Gate Park

Oysterfest returns for it’s 13th year June 30 at Golden Gate park with Young the Giant, Minus the Bear, Manchester Orchestra, Little Hurricane and a band selected for SF Station’s The Lineup local music showcase.

New for this year, the festival will be held at Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park instead of the Great Meadow at Fort Mason, where Oysterfest has called home for the last several years. Policy changes with the federal agency that manages Fort Mason made it necessary to move, according to organizers.

The festival should draw large crowds for Young the Giant, which filled The Fillmore to capacity on consecutive nights in April largely due to the pop success of its hit “Cough Syrup.” Bear in Heaven adds some Brooklyn indie cred while Manchester Orchestra brings some depth to the lineup.

Oysters from a variety of oyster farms will be served throughout the day along with a variety of drink options. This year features a happy hour with $1 off drinks until 2pm.

Also new for this year, SF Station is partnering with festival organizers for The Lineup, a local music showcase that will feature three bands at Brick & Mortar on June 13, selected through an online voting process. The band with the most votes will start the festivities at Oysterfest with a three-song set. More details here.
